New bike day. Merlin Cyrene.

My father rode this for years. He was kind enough to send it to me to put some miles on. This is a forever bike due to sentimental reasons alone. It is a forever bike for other reasons as well.
I am looking forward to putting some miles on this super bike.

My Cyrene is all Ti. Tall head tube, showy engraving. Sweet bike. Alas it's tight tire clearances mean I don't even have it setup now...:-(

The tire clearance is good for about 28's. I am running 27 Paves right now and my wifes wheelset with 28 Compasses fits fine.
Its starting to snow but here it is put together with whatever mismatched parts were in the basement.
Should be a good ride.
Some spacers will go away when I get some fit miles on it.

kind of cool that you and your dad ride about the same sized bike and you are able to put some miles and take this bike to some new places for him.

get that thing to some mountaintop and send a pic to your dad!

With HED Belgium+ or Pacenti SL23 rims I could not get 25s to fit.

Looks great and I'm betting it is a smooth ride. I like the engraved ti and the gold headset. Merlin has made some nice bikes

First time I saw one of those (years ago, when they first came out) was on 9W headed towards Nyack, at top of the hill before descending into Piermont. The dude who had it was riding with us, and we were all waiting at the observatory/nature trail parking lot to regroup. Man, what a pretty bike. Isn't all that etching done by laser or something?

Great history with that frame, a keeper for life for sure. Enjoy it!
