Peloton stops production slow sales.

Looks like the spin bike craze is slowing down.

I would guess its also due to the rise in competition. Tons of less expensive options that offer the similar or even the same experience.

My friends who use them still love them. Some are actual cyclists. Hell, I'd probably rather do Peloton than Zwift. (But instead I just freeze or don't ride during cold weeks).

Peloton latest to blame Apple for financial woes

Quote:
Reportedly, part of the issue was that demand for fitness products has dropped post pandemic, since buyers have been returning to their offices and gyms. Peloton also says that supply constraints, plus rising freight costs, were factors.

However, Peloton also blamed Apple's ad-related privacy changes. The company says that the moves made it more difficult to target buyers.

Say what you want they posted crazy sales numbers in a very short period of time, their concept was/is real. They are a victim of their own success, just like so many other over capitalized public companies they got way ahead of their growth curve. Blinded by the light!

Oh yeah, I called it when they offered the IPO, so there! Fitness is so trend-captive, and short-lived. There's no money to be made here; at least long term or for the general public investor.

That's the correct thing to do: the LAST thing you should cut is your advertising.

Declining hardware sales are just the leading edge of the slump too; they're really going to feel it when all of those people who they hooked during the pandemic start cancelling their monthly donations.

And with media commitments six months to a year out...

OT-ish Peloton temporarily halts production of bikes, treadmills

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/20/pelo...and-wanes.html

Thought this was interesting. I wonder if demand elsewhereis about to take a fat dump and Peloton is a canary in the coal mine, or if this really has been driven by the circumstances they say such as competition and over estimated demand.

Seeing about 10 a day posted on Facebook marketplace and craigslist here in Milwaukee. Usually around $800 so it looks like people are looking to offload those otherwise expensive clothes racks and get some money back while the craze is still somewhat hot. Otherwise, my guess is recurring price for the app and such is causing some hesitation, much like Netflix constant raising of prices for the same content and function. Either way, a Peloton will always be an inside use only thing vs. an actual bike and trainer that can be used inside and out.

Looks like its been a classic IPO "pump n' dump" -- insiders make out like bandits, second-order investors and ETFs take it in the pants..

Can't for the life of me . . .

. . . figure out why anyone is surprised by this. I called it within a few months of the pandemic start. They're gonna sell a million of 'em and then after the pandemic is over you'll be able to find them out by the curb in the rich neighborhoods with "free" signs on them.

Ha,ha funny guy and I wanna say absolutely right on point but....I'm not so sure the pandemic is over. Actually I was kinda thinking that just maybe the halt in production being pandemic related is because nobody wants to work???...
