Spectrum steel

Are you supposed to wait until the bike arrives before posting here?

If so my bad, check back later this year. Although I do have that pesky decision of how to paint it.

Anyway, operators are standing by and Tom's wait list isn't too long - yet.....

Glad you are getting a Spectrum before the doors close.

They would work for me too! Some day soon perhaps. In the meantime I'm reduced to silly debates in my mind like mechanicals stops or not? Glossy, satin or mat finish - the truly trivial details.

Those are the fun decisions, but tough too. Love my Spectrum.

I know right! I keep on telling myself that patience is a virtue.

Meanwhile, look what I managed to stuff into this Spectrum - Compass Bon Jons (thanks Dan) measuring out at 38 on these rims + fenders. Not much room to spare but I think I'll keep em on for today's late afternoon ride - chance of showers.

Very nice

How'd they ride? I just put 32c Compass EL on my Kirk, but it'll be a few weeks before I get to ride them.

Did you listen to The Pull podcast w TK yet? It's good stuff...

The Bon Jons ride nice, but I knew that already from the regular casing ones on the Kirk Cross. I think I could go down a bit on inflation pressure.

Was recently reading one of Jan Heine's pieces saying no speed difference between a 24-54 mm tire; that was probably motivation to make it so but over a 5 mile route from my house I was 3 minutes faster than normal yesterday and my overall speed for the ride was 3/10s mph faster than the day before on my carbon Hampsten with panaracer 25mm competition tires. BUT, I was also putting in a little bit more effort - 6 bpm on average -and the Bon Jons "feel" slower at least climbing (maybe its just that extra volume squishing around). I am pretty happy with them though. Next they'll get thrown on the AirLandSea in back to back rides with 650b 42 (38s that measure out at 41.5) gravel kings. I don't know why I keep on trying to optimize a gravelish bike for the road - guess that's cause its the majority of the riding...)

I did listen to TK's podcast - parts of it twice. Very enjoyable.
