Kirk MRB - It's Happening..

Add me to the list of can’t wait to see it! I was fortunate to own a terraplane filet bike from Dave a while back. The best filets I have ever seen and quite a spectacular bike.

The fit was a bit off at the time, but another one of our Paceline brothers is enjoying it now. If I were going to have a custom steel bike built Dave would be on my short list. Congrats!

The wait will be hard but you are getting a bike designed for you. It will be worth the wait. Enjoy the process.

Woohoo! Going to be so sweet. Looks like a custom steel ride will have to happen.

Good choice. As you so appropriately wrote in my WTB thread "Life is short. Get a bike you love and ride the he11 out of it!".

Following this thread should be just enough to finally commit to a spot in Dave's queue.

Planning a trip to Bozeman?

Funny, that was Dave's advice to me when I was struggling with indecision over design elements. I was concerned if I didn't pigeon-hole the design just right that it would overlap with my Disc Cross or Ellis Road, potentially pushing one of those out of the garage. Dave said something to the effect of "pick a design that's going to make you happy and don't worry about the rest of it..". So that's what I did. And it may push out the Ellis, or may not. Only time will tell.

As for a trip to Bozeman - it's definitely on the list, and I may be able to connect it up with a work trip to get there sooner, but not specifically in relation to this build - it should be done pretty soon. The roads there look incredible, and I'd love to get a chance to meet Dave and go for a ride together.

very cool! This bike is gonna be awesome. That's great advice from Dave. I think you'll end up with a bike you really love by taking that approach.

If you, Dave and PaMtbRider got together on your Kirks, other than the fact that you guys could easily interchange and swap bikes, looking from the back, y'all would be almost indistinguishable - have the same body type - tall, slender, fit, and...handsome of course.

It will be quite a sight.

I think each of our wives may be of similar height too - that would make for a funny picture with the six of us - especially if I could get mine on a Kirk at some point too.. Anybody got a 51-53cm hanging around?

The Las Vegas betting line has the Ellis sold in 3 months, and the Kirk in 6.....

But who knows?.......

Those seem like fairly good odds, but I'm not a betting man.

Indeed. I'm thinking about the Ochoco Gravel Roubaix in a couple weeks now that I see the Swift 100/200 is sold out...that one on your radar?

I don't know what JB's wait is like these days, but Dave got her in the jig today, so that part won't be long now

You said I'm a white knight, what you got there sounds like some crazy witchcraft.

I think this was a record-setting high watermark.

Right now I'm thinking about black satin as the base, with white for the decals and main band color, and a metallic brassy pewter accent to tie in the barrel adjusters and cast headbadge. Dunno. I love the satin paint on my disc cross. I do love glossy navy/white/gold together too. And sage green with pink and light blue.

I plan to build it with DA9100 and am still thinking about wheel options...

PMP titanium post w Black head. Painted stem.

I'll change my mind at least ten times before the finish line of course
