Ti seatpost in 31.6 with setback

Anyone know who makes one?? Seems most of the handbuilt community only makes 27.2.

PMP seems to make one but haven't been able to find one in stock in the states

Bold Precision will build to order and the diameter reduction on such a large Ø post is a huge bonus.

Setback in 31,6mm is not easy to find.

Muru Cycles make a nice one (curved like Moots/Eriksen) in 31,6 x 20mm setback, but like PMP are only available via direct order (the PMP is 14mm setback).

I cannot recall if Wittson Cycles made/make their own titanium seatposts but it is easy enough for you to ask them, and they are very nice people.

I have a Bold and would definitely recommend. Put a little friction paste at the pivots before tightening everything up and it won't slip. Same with a lot of clamps with that design (Specialized that came on my Tarmac, older Enve post, Zipp).

Any update on the pmp?
I have been thinking about contacting sales guy and also looking at the USE sumo (though I've read about failures ...)
The ti pmp is really a looker and i can't see how the clamp would have problems unless the bond failed ...

Howdy.

PMP is still making posts. They just aren't advertising it. Long story as to why. I still get PMP posts all the time. Here's a pic of a 27.2 x 250mm post(black head) and a 31.6 x 350mm post(silver head). Pretty sure I still have the 31.6mm one in the picture. I'd have to look later.

But yes, I still offer PMP posts as well as the USE Sumo posts.

Regarding the USE Posts. I have never heard of any titanium Sumo posts failing but I have heard of the alloy Alien and Sumo versions cracking. They are super thin and very lightweight.

342 grams for the ti cycles one. Thats not really great value at 210$ imo.

Well, sure. And at 31.6 you're probably not getting the ride quality benefit from Ti like you would in a smaller diameter.

perhaps true also. I was just suprised someone made a ti post that weighed that much.

Ti Cycles are not really a weight weenie company ever.
More important here, their 31,6 seatpost has only 10mm setback.

I've spent some time cursing about seatposts lately in my garage. Broke an old Dura Ace aluminum post last week. It was only about 25 years old, so I shouldn't be too upset. The replacement post I chose is "meh".

What makes a Ti seatpost desirable?

I guess only the look to match a Ti frame. This said I have carbon posts on all my Ti bikes. They are better in every way.
