Holy Grail of bike tires: tan, tubeless, fast(ish), and durable. Do they exist?
I’d love to buy some. 28-32c.
I know there are many fans of the Vittoria Corsa Pros here. I think AngryScientist has a Vittoria tattoo. Yes, they are very smooth and roll exquisitely. But I’ve had two of them that have lasted less than 50 miles. One shot a a very impressive sealant geyser that was borderline pornographic. So…not these. Conversely, my experience with the Panaracer Gravel King Slicks is that they’re pretty sluggish (at least in the 32c flavor). Any other options out there? Thanks! |

If you aren't subscribed to https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com, you should be.
Unfortunately for you, they found that at least for the Continental GP 5K, the tanwall version is slower than the all-black version, so you should recognize that some of your goals are in tension with each other.

I don't think the tan GP5000's are enough slower to warrant a concern, and they are certainly more than durable enough for a fast tire.
I would stop there but if you want other options, the Tufo Comtura and Endurance are made in 28mm, and the Challenge Strada Bianca is made in a wide variety of sizes >30mm. |

I can't speak to the TLR version but the clincher version is fast and supple. Not the most puncture resistant tire but most of the failures I had would likely have damaged any tire that was worth riding (i.e., not a Gatorskin).

I love how these ride (and they look great) but have had bad luck on multiple slicing open within the first 100 miles so i can't claim they're very durable

One thing to note, the 5000 tanwall is darker than most others. Looks more dark brown than tan. Also, BRR rates the puncture resistance worse than the Corsa Pro, at least for the tread, so that’s another thing to note. The 5000 is my go to tire and haven’t really had any big issues though.

I run the Vittoria Corsa Control Pros in 28mm. These are the tougher version of this tire, not the fragile ones.
They are incredibly durable. I have over 3,000 miles on mine without a single flat (latex tubes) and they have many more miles in them still. And I ride on some seriously rough roads with these tires. They certainly feel plenty fast to me with latex tubes in them. I think that the Corsa Control Pro is the best dang tire ever made! |

Tufo calibra plus comes in 28s is extremely lightweight and I've had excellent mileage out of them.

Tan/Fast/Tough
Not a tubeless rider here but I swear by the Gravelking Slicks and I am running them across several bikes. I have them in 26c and 32c. The 32c are definitely sluggish though in comparison, but plenty tough. I am tempted to try the other Panaracer options (Agilist, Pasela etc.).
I also have the TUFO Comtura Duo in 25c and 28c. They are wonderful. I will be buying more of them. |
