46-30 crankset options

After the Farmer's Daughter ride this weekend my lovely wife has requested some lower gears. What are my option for a 46-30 crankset? The main caveat being a threaded bottom bracket with non oversized spindle. Her bike is Di2 and there isn't clearance for wires and a 30mm spindle. Would prefer to avoid square taper if possible. The only thing I've come up with so far is the just released Shimano FC-RX600 crank.

There's a thread on here titled, What are the big 3 waiting for to go sub-compact? which has a great deal on this topic. And Mark McM wrote more detail about using a SRAM Force cranks with the removable spider to swap in a MTB spider to run lower gears in a thread titled - Subcompact gearing.... that I started a while back. I've done that on my Litespeed, running 42-28. Haven't looked for rings to do 46-30.

Praxis makes nice sub-compact cranksets that are reasonably priced.

as long as 32t is small enough for you.

Great cranks (I have Zayante subcompact on my cross bike), but doesn't satisfy the need for a non-oversized spindle.

It’s not cheap, but the Rotor Aldhu comes in a 46/30 with a 24mm spindle. I’m running the 30mm version with a CX70 FD and 11-speed, works great.

I like the Sugino, but does anybody ever have them in stock? The Rotor also is kinda cool and I wasn't aware of it.

Dan - Absolute Black makes some 46/30 chainrings that bolt directly to standard shimano 4-arm cranks. i have a set and confirm they shift really well.

Why the reluctance for square taper? There's 94mm BCD square taper cranks out there that you can use as a double, just leaving off the inner ring.

Otherwise, SRAM has a variety of cranks with removable spiders. Buy the crank you want, then swap in a "mountain" spider.

This is what I put on my Ultegra crankset...was perfect for the Farmer's Daughter
giving me a nice 30-34 for those rough hills.

Good question that I don't have an answer for. Maybe a white industries crank would be a nice option.

46-30 crankset options

The Easton SL90 crank arms can be coupled with either single ring or double, direct mount. They offer 47/32, 46/30 and other road combos. bb options for almost all threaded or non threaded standards.

Super nice cranks.
