Mech help needed. DT Swiss 350 end caps

Hey so I converted my DT Swiss 350s from QR to thru axle and all went well except for putting the new endcaps on. Rear ones went great and cassette is on etc. but for the life of me, I can't get the front ones on there even with a mallet. Anyone have any tips on how to get those on there and maybe be able to get them off again for servicing?

Did you double check the part number? Did you measure the outside and inside diameter? Dt Swiss is pretty specific with part numbers and you could have the wrong ones.

If you are unsure - look up the hub by the serial number

Certainly check the serial vs what you ordered, but it's not looking promising.

I'm going to rely on the wheelbuilder chart found here, about half way down the page.

350 Center Lock Disc & 350 ISO Disc
(Includes straight pull and standard flange hubs)

If the stock setup was a 350 QR, it is not convertible to TA.

Stock setup was TA and QR swapped in with the idea that in the future I'd be converting them over to TA.

12mm or 15mm?

Probably worth a quick call/email to Dave at DT-Swiss to discuss compatibility and axles as well.

Have your hub serial handy and the part # of the end caps you purchased.

Thanks all for your help. They ended up seating with a little extra persuasion and should be fine. I'll post again when I get around to servicing them.

Mine were a bit of a struggle even with the proper tools and a vice. Not sure if you lubed them but that helps alot.

I've thinking about these endcaps. Has anyone successfully gone from 142 to boost with them? Or are the flanges in all the wrong places...

Pretty sure the flange center to flange different(larger) for Boost.

Yes but there are a number of kits out there to space the rotor/end cap out. Depending on the hub you'll need to re-dish the wheel.

FWIW I bought the (very overpriced) DT endcap tool for working on 350s and I’m glad I did. Worth getting one - makes both removal and installation easy.
