comfort in "Fred" shorts

While I have lots of lycra/padded shorts I often ride in regular shorts or jeans too. Some years ago Ralph Lauren boxers were made with no seam in the middle of the seat (crack area). Recent inspections of RL shorts reveals that they are like most other (cheaper) boxed with a seam righ up the middle.

It makes a big difference in comfort. I've tried knit boxers but they are very effective wedgie-givers.

So guys, any hints for seamless seat boxers? They must be out there somewhere because they are a GOOD THING!

First off Ken - Happy Birthday!

Second, i normally wear standard boxers, but when i ride in street clothes, i wear Jockey boxer briefs, and find them to be excellent. i wear the mid lenghts, and they are a lycra like material, excellent wicking properties, and i can stay comfy on the bike for hours in them and khaki typed shorts.

Patagonia boxers don't have a seam up the middle of the seat. They last forever too.

i was about to say rapha boxers, but they seem to have the seam right up the crack!

they do, however, offer a merino boxer with pad: http://www.rapha.cc/merino-boxers/

I have these, and they are great. expensive, for underwear, but really comfortable for wearing under street clothes. Really thin pad.

2nd the boxer briefs suggestion. They're essentially like unpadded bike shorts. They come in various leg lengths, and fabric blends. The more lycra, the more they are like standard bike shorts.

However, they are not very flattering to those with large abdominal regions. Now, if they would just come out with a nice slimming bib version.

I have tried the boxer-length versions of tighty-whities but I prefer the "freedom" of woven boxers for this kind of riding.

I looked at J Crew and Vineyard Vines on line. Their boxers look nice but I can't tell from the writing or pix what kind of seats they have.

NO! I might still want to use the equipment as God intended.
