I considered it, but honestly the eTAP group kind of fell in my lap unexpectedly halfway through the build. Original intent was to put SRAM Red mechanical on it. Keeping the stops on there definitely isn’t as clean but probably also helps with resell if I decide to let it go one day

Yes they sure do! I started doing moto style 6-8 years ago and haven’t looked back. Works great for me.

this is such a rad bike, if only you could polish the sram levers to keep the silver going!

Awesome. Metal frames + rim brakes + sub 15lb! My first road bike was a Cannondale I bought off my friends dad, loved that bike! Raise your hand if you saw this post and immediately did a search for an old Cannondale. I think I want to build up a Black Lightning with modern parts. Great job.

Love it. Makes me want to do this myself with a Cannondale.

That would be pretty rad… Vanilla Cycles did something similar on their recent classic builds where they had chrome polished and embossed Dura Ace shifter/brake levers… not sure what all went into that but it did look pretty good!

Damn, I love it. I want to do something similar to my CAAD8 that I bought used, but I want to do the old school green color that they had in the 90s.

Noooooo. Really the only thing that bugs me about this build is that its 1x, we need to leave them on in case he comes to his senses!

Yesss — that green/gold paint is also on my short list of future projects I want to take on.

As for the 1X, I think I’ll keep it that way for now. No intention of coming to my senses I guess lol. But I still won’t be filing down the cable stops in case I resell in the future

In my eyes bikes like these are so much better than the new stuff

Not Eroica retro or anything but just a perfect all around road bike that still looks perfect !
