'98 GT Edge Ti

Here we go!

really didn't anticipate finding one of these so soon after finishing the Loa...

A lot of ideas flowing already, I've had a dream spec/spread sheet for this for months. Fork is likely a placeholder.

Geo here below from the catalog save the Seat Tube which are my measurements as they're not listed in catalog.

Frame Size 50

Seat Tube C-T - 55cm
Seat Tube C-C - 50cm
Top Tube C-C - 53cm
Head Tube - 10cm
HT Angle - 72
ST Angle - 74.5
BB Height - 271mm
Rake - 45
Chainstay - 405mm
Wheel base - 977mm

From the '98 Catalog

Typed the copy into translator -

nowadays almost every company sells a titanium bike. So what makes the gt edge titanium better than the multitude of other ti bikes? Well, definitely our unique triple triangle design that makes the frame incredibly laterally stiff without sacrificing the suppleness of the titanium. In addition, we can say about ourselves. that we are one of the most successful frame manufacturers in the world. countless medals in national championships. world championships and even the olympics are on our success list. when it comes to quality, our frame builders are some of the most respected welders in the bike biz. the edge-titanium is made in our tech shop in longmont, colorado. manufactured and welded together in one step. after the frame has been polished to a high gloss. the edge is only equipped with the best components. that are worthy of a titanium frame. shimano dura ace sti. mavic open pro rims. double butted dt swiss spokes, michelin tires and syncros stem. now you must be asking yourself: why buy another ti-bike when there is a gt edge titanium next to it!

I regret selling mine. If I knew then what I know now about fit, it would still be in the Lab.

I know! I'm really stoked. Everything I've read about them is positive and people always seem to regret getting rid of them V V V

I'm hoping I figured fit out with the Voodoo which was a bit of a shot in the dark. That one feels right...maybe I'll see a fit specialist one day though. Probably a worth couple of hundred $ to spend before I develop some ailment that could have been avoided with a mm or 2 in some direction.

hee hee. I have a dream spreadsheet going but mostly modern parts trying to balance performance/weight/budget while keeping it looking as good as it does. The "budget" part of the balance is not doing so hot. I only have the frame/crankset (and placeholder fork) so far...I should post a want ad over in the classifieds actually for the rest.

Did a lot of research on / hunting for 1" carbon forks and in doing so found a 1" Easton EC90 SL. Its light as hell at 321g, feels solid and in excellent shape so this is the fork I'll run.

I am itching to ride it badly... I half want to throw my DA 10spd group on there just to get rolling but I also want to just make the dream build that much more worth the wait. It's going to take some time to collect though.

going to go press the headset now just to see progress.

Oh yes, that’s going to look very nice all built up.

The black wheels are a nice echo of the old de rigeur Spinergy Rev-X.

GT definitely made some real lookers in the mid- & late-90s, that’s for sure. Looking forward to seeing the full build!

Though they're more of a grey than black, I agree!

I did try to snag some RevX at first but seller never responded. Anyway this is a certainly a nicer set of wheels and seeing as I plan to ride the hell out of this bike I feel much better about these.
