Love it.
Your experience with your Yamaguchi is an inspiration! I really enjoyed reading how passionate you are on and about the bike when i did my initial research It also led to me wanting to have my own.

However, his communication skills could have been alot better.

It is a foregone conclusion the bike frame is not quite my fit and frankly i am angry about it. Coupled with a non-responsive person in seemingly ill-health and after a long period of waiting, there is little much I can do about it.

I'll have to further discuss with my fitter how to make it work.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I too would be unsettled if this occurred. Best of luck!

Have you voiced your concerns directly with Koichi ?

Seems unfathomable to me that people just accept whatever is delivered to them by these so called old masters. The bicycle industry gets away with things that would be unthinkable in any other industry.

I think the problem is the 'old master' who thinks he is an artist and the 'client' should be happy with whatever they are given.

Imperfection is perfection, etc.

See, a response from Yamaguchi requires reminders and waiting.
As many who have dealt with him will attest - communication is not his strongest forte.

Fellow PL forummer @beanolol is still waiting for a response on his sub-quality frame. i do not believe a proper explanation or response was given so far.

I have lost patience from the long wait thus far, but since my painter has the bikeframe in hand and everything else appears to be ok, i'll just move on - lesson learnt.

My last query on the fork steerer went unanswered...ie. if it was indeed a threaded steerer then the short head-tube may make sense..with a quill stem.
Turns out it is a non-threaded steerer.. at least he got what i asked for right.
Fingers crossed that somehow my fitter can get the ride to be is as magical as others have experienced.

here's a preview with the best photo i could get from BMP - lighting is not great but i believe it is the shade i want

so there appears to be abit of a miscommunication on the flower logo on the wishbone and the signature ended up on the other side of the TT.
this was the intended result - it was bothering me alot so i thought i would seek alternative opinions. which do you guys prefer?

Well the paint looks awesome. The signature being on the NDS doesn't bother me, personally. But yea, the flower logo is definitely too big. It certainly would get to me every now and then when looking at it, but it's not bad.

Comparing the finishing on your Yamaguchi to mine, I would take yours all day. But I would hope that Black Magic would know they screwed up, especially if you gave them the orange bike photo for reference.

However, I do really want to see more of this paint job. Especially the details on the seattube there near the BB. Looks amazing.

yes it was referenced in conversation and commented on sketch. so the end result was a surprise.

Well i was hoping for more photos too.

An email saying my frames is ready and asking for balance payment came first - i had to ask to see the end result.
BC then took two photos on his phone after i asked - one of which you saw
this is the other:

I will hear further from him tomorrow Monday.

As for the details you mentioned -

this is what i had asked for/ commented in response to the initial drawing for approval.

basically, i still wanted a reference to the True Temper tubing without the typical graphic on the top tube and the usual tubing sticker; and of course crediting the painter (taking a reference to Sachs/ Joe Bell).

In essence I just took the graphic elements of the eagle head and the flag from the tubing sticker.

Love that detail there.

But I go back to the overall. It looks pretty great. Yea, the signature on the other side is a miss along with the too large flower on the rear. But if I saw you riding without any knowledge of your desired paint I would not assume anything went awry and it was done by choice. How that helps you, I can only compare it to the finishing on my bike which is far from perfect lol. Curious what they're going to say.

I suppose its more of not getting what i wanted after paying!

I hope i will not get disappointed by getting an appropriate and reasonable response.

On the bright side, I found a suitable groupset that is on the way. fingers crossed.

I would prefer the smaller flower where you designated it's placement at the top of the wishbone to mirror the brake hole. Is the headtube left blank?
That black Record set will look very nice with this paint. Good luck!

flower is too big and signature on wrong side. Considering this paint job was probably a fortune I would probably ask to get it rectified.

That said the paint looks awesome

disappointing to see this paint screw up

it's not the end of the world but the ball was dropped for sure

they certainly should either make it right or give a discount

I’ve loved Yamaguchi’s for decades. I’d be so happy to finally have one I’d build up ASAP, never seeing the flower or signature while I’m riding it and go to sleep dreaming “I own a Yamaguchi”.
I certainly hope you get to enjoy it-it’s special.
