Bike Fit in Washington, DC

I'm looking for someone in the Washington, DC area to help me refit a Seven Axiom I had custom made for me over 20 years ago. Any suggestions/experience would be most appreciated. Thanks!

No personal experience but I've heard from a few that District Cycle Works does a good job.

All set with Smiley, but I'm sure others would love to hear other options. Thanks for your help!

Poor experience with Clovis. If you're a pure roadie, you may have a different experience.

Matt Moore at District Cycle Works does wonderful fits. He's methodical, makes the fit a dialogue, and isn't entirely siloed in one school of fit.

Smiley can be great but he's also very much a "my way or the highway" kind of fitter. It works for many, doesn't work for some.

Clovis is great but definitely road oriented. Still, he's got great bona fides.

I've had fits on two bikes done at various places - Proteus, Smiley, and Clovis. All three seemed to know their stuff and recommended different fits. None have seemed to be the cure to my problem yet. Maybe I'll check our district cycle works. They are big bucks but looks like they do saddles too. None of the other three fitters had any sort of saddle selection/trial type fits.

Matt at DCW has a really cool system where once on the fit bike he can switch out a saddle in a few seconds without you even unclipping (just stand on pedals). I have a strong visual / confirmation bias that can lead me to choose a saddle that looks right instead of feeling right. This allows him to narrow it down and try a few for you, similar to the optometrist who does the thing where she asks does A or B look better.

I believe they have multiple saddles in-house too, notably including the specialized line.

Do folks find that the fit bikes are better for dialing in bike fitting stuff vs being fit on one's own bike? I'm debating if it would be better to spring for something that has the ability to change everything out that quickly during testing.

I think all 3 fitters I went to had one of those "fit" bikes but none used them for my fits. That said I'm still uncomfortable even after 3 fits. ...
