Not a scammer here, but watch out on eBay for user "spalding_fasteners"

He just posted a ton of high end bikes, all for $3k exactly, and some I recognize from previous listings. And in his listings, he specifies instructions on how to "make an offer" off of ebay..

Yep, original seller's store says he's in the UK yet the bikes say Louisiana.

This happens all the time and has been documented before. Somehow the same group gets into an innocent user's account then posts A TON of desirable stuff at a low asking starting bid price. Not sure if it's ever worked.

Thanks for reporting this in.

I'm going to look further into this, once i get to a real computer and can read your screen shots, but my initial reaction is this person's account was probably hacked and the hackers are the scammers, not the actual user.

Anyway, that account has a temp ban on it, if the real cgates66 is reading this get in touch with us and we can fix it if it was a hacked account.

AS, I sent you a PM regarding a purchase I made last week from (what appears to be) a regular seller, but has not communicated since receiving Venmo payment last week.

Thanks.

I am not sure how this actually works but I have been seeing scammers being ok with getting paid with VENMO with buyer protection which is weird. Of course we all know to never pay paypal friends and fam and normal venmo but I would think that the new option to pay venmo with protection would be fine (they are owned by paypal si should be same) but I have been seeing scammers say its fine so I am betting they are able to take the money out of the venmo account unlike paypal which probably has em wait. The good thing is that you the buyer will get your money back

That was my concern, potentially hacked account, when I did not hear any communication from a seller after nearly one week after making payment via Venmo. Hijacking accounts (hacking) is or was a common scam on eBay. The scammer uses the good reputation of the username (based on prior transactions and feedback) to gain buyers' trust.

Communication is essential.

user MikeRodg seems to have speedposted himself in and now replied to my wtb ad offering a frame for a suspiciously low price and terms, insisting paypal friends & family payment. he couldn't provide any measurements for the frame and went quiet after i made it clear i won't do friends & family.

be warned.

Thanks for reporting that in. No one should be harassing you behind the scenes and pressuring you to pay with F&F, which is a violation of our rules.
