New Year, New Events Coming!

2020 is finally over, and at BikeADK we're looking ahead with a lot of hope that by this next summer the Covid demons will finally put on the run and we can get back to our usual slate of live cycling events in the Adirondacks.

Here's what's coming . . . Mark your calendars and we hope you can join us!

RIDE FOR THE RIVER, Wilmington, NY: July 17-18
This important annual fundraiser directly supports the important work of the nonprofit Ausable River Association to protect the clean waters, healthy streams, biodiverse habitats, and scenic beauty of the Ausable River watershed. Route and logistics planning is now underway to make sure this live event returns with a bang for 2021. Keep an eye on our website for more information as it's announced.

WEEKENDER AT PAUL SMITH''S COLLEGE, Saranac Lake, NY: August 6-8
There is no better setting for a family friendly cycling experience than Paul Smith's College. Its 14,000 acre lakeside campus is perfect hub for you to explore the beautiful Saranac Lake region by bicycle. But this event is so much more. It's a waterfront campfire with a guitar and friends. It's a few paddle strokes on a pristine pond while listening to the enchanting call of a loon. It's drinking in crisp forest smells while strolling a boardwalk along a nearby bog. It's a personally guided tour of a Historic Great Camp that once served as a summer retreat for President Calvin Coolidge and his family.

And best of all, the Weekender is dedicated to supporting the Paul Smith's College Climate Fellowship Program, which provides funds to students who design personal expeditions and collect climate stories from across the world.

This year's event will directly support a group of students and faculty - who you'll get to meet on the Weekender - on a self supported bicycle trip throughout the northeast to gather climate stories.

GREAT CAMP SAGAMORE EXPERIENCE, Raquette Lake, NY: August 22-24
Experience life in the gilded age at historic Great Camp Sagamore in stunning Raquette Lake with a multi-day experience that blends road cycling with a modern mini-vacation. This weekend is designed to provide you with a true connection to the landscape and history of this special place. Each morning will feature professionally guided bicycle rides of 20 miles on nearby low traffic roads showcasing incredible Adirondack scenery and gentle rolling terrain. Afternoons are all about camp exploration and relaxation. Think canoeing on pristine Sagamore Lake, hiking the rich pine forest, rolling a frame or two at the historic open-air bowling alley or simply lounging lakeside in an Adirondack chair with a good book.

Built in 1897 by visionary great camps designer William West Durant on 1,526 acres of remote wilderness in the Adirondack Park, Great Camp Sagamore was a wilderness retreat for the Vanderbilt family for half a century. It is now a National Historic Landmark managed by a non-profit educational institution as a public trust.

Book early, registration is limited to 12 guests.

THE ANNUAL PAT STRATTON RIDE, Saranac Lake, NY: August 28-29
https://www.bikeadirondacks.com/even...-stratton-ride
Named after local plumber and cycling enthusiast, the Pat Stratton Ride is a road cycling tour featuring some of the most stunning scenery and terrain in the northern Adirondacks. It's also known for the world famous fresh baked pies available to all at the finish line BBQ hosted at Saranac Lake's village owned ski area, Mt. Pisgah.

But here's what it's really about. The kids. Your registration supports a wide variety of youth programs, including an annual bicycle rodeo, free helmet distribution and fitting, school back-pack program, support for foster children, summer camp scholarships, and much, much more...

The 2020 ride - our 20th Anniversary - raised over $9,000! Registration for the 2021 event will open in the spring.
