A resounding BLACK for me. The frame graphics are too busy to add more busy-ness. The first photo looks really good-- all debadged or minimally labeled black components are best for that frame.

Nah. They work really well on steel bikes on box-section rims.

Given those choices, I'd say black is way better. (tan just doesn't go for that style frame or those wheels)

However, it would be interesting to try out some tires with a very thin red, white or green stripe to match the other colors already on the frame. Sometimes playing the "matchy-match" game looks like you're trying too hard and doesn't look good. Sometimes it looks very cool. I can't tell beforehand how something will look without seeing it, but it's worth trying.

It's nice bike, but the tan sidewalls don't look right.

i'm not a fan of anything other than black tires. that trend of colored treads about a decade ago was horrible. i get tan sidewalls are different, but i think i've been permanently conditioned to dislike anything other than black tires.

respect if you're running tubs, but otherwise, nope.

well,

here's what i think:

those tan sidewalls would look really great on that bike once they are good and broken in, with the sidewalls dirty and darker than that, the bike would look really mean, and well used.

but

you live in san diego.....

so, go black

While I have used black sidewalls on occasion, I can't think of any case where I would pick them over tan ones if the tire I wanted to use offered both options.

In this case: Black 'cause it works better with the deep dish wheels.

Rode with a guy on vittorias and 303s the other week. Tanwall tires look funny on deeper section wheels.
