Gravel Grape Crusher

I m a new by to gravel events, but have been riding road for many years. Using the advice of several on this forum, built up an older Specialized Crux to use.

Has anyone done this event? Any suggestions, advice, words of wisdom?

Thanks.

Looks great.
What tires are you running?
I’d be thinking 700x 35 or bigger with their description of the ride.

I did it last year and had a blast - I'm headed down from VT to do it again this year. DEFINITELY more challenging than it looks - easily 1.5x as demanding as the Hell of Hunterdon, which I also did last year. I rode it with 700x38mm Maxxis Rambler tires and was pleased with their performance on the gravel/dirt, although they were squirrely on the wet pavement, so I'm probably running 700x40 Schwalbe G1s this year, provided that conditions aren't too muddy. Plenty of folks rode it on mountain bikes - the course has a lot of doubletrack and singletrack. My rig is a Carver All-road, with 11x34 cassette and a 30x46 double in the front.

Anyone riding this year? COVID killed the event over past 2 years. Headed down from VT to ride it on June 11 and trying to see if anyone else is doing it. Registration is still open.
