Wonder how long that's been going on!
Getting my Litespeed Blue Ridge ready for a spring ride, noticed that the seatpost collar had been mickey moused and was on its way to failure.
Looks like someone used a bolt with a head too large for the shoulder. Glad it didn't fail on the trails! ...wonder if *I* did that!

I ruined a bolt on a little Spec stem on my son’s bike and threaded a bigger bolt into the body of the stem (similar to your collar).
It haunted me that I would do that on my son’s bike! I took it off and recycled the stem (which was painful as the stem was pretty good quality and nearly new) Good pickup! |

Not sure it's obvious in the photo...but the collar is cracked at that shoulder!

Good catch. And fortunately this is an easy fix - remove and replace entire unit.
