OT: The best movies most have never heard of...
What are good movies out there that most folks may not have heard of? I'll throw one out for consideration....
Fandango Kevin Costner, Judd Nelson, Sam Robards. This was before Costner got famous, and while Nelson was in the Brat Pack...so a little surprising he did it. What you got? William |

The Long Riders
Walter Hill's take on Jesse James' gang. All brothers played by brothers, Quaid brothers, Keach brothers, Carradine brothers, even the Guests playing the Ford brothers. Amazing shootouts.

Watched "Curse of the Demon"/ "Night of the Demon" again last night. Try to find the original 96 minute British version if you want to see it.

Speaking of Mads... Polar. Actually has some good comedy.
And as if anything with Ryan Reynolds could be obscure, School of Life. Had never heard of it, but saw it on YouTube as a "free with ads" movie. I swear he was digitally de-aged in there. But it's a good movie, even if lacking in depth somewhat. |

I'm not sure whether I should post this after reading the Jerry Lee Lewis thread but Charlie Chaplin's Limelight is on TCM tonight. Well worth watching if you're into classic movies.

The Proposition
Australian sort of western....shot on film, with mostly natural lighting, which is difficult to do, from what I've read, and I appreciate it. You Were Never Really Here Something to be said for hammers. Last edited by RobbieTunes; 11-02-2022 at 01:26 PM. |

1.Night of the hunter
It was on last week on AMC. Robert Mitchum serial killer preacher. A take on the brothers grimm. 2. Coogan's bluff early Eastwood flick. Great motorcycle chase scene in Fort Tryon Park in New York City. My old neighborhood. 3. Babette's feast - a big favorite. Explores duality of Sensuality/ abstinance. 4. Tree Queens --argentine con-man flick. You really don't know who is conning who until the very end of the film. Similar to House of Games by David Mamet. Tree Queens is better IMHO. 5. Don't Die without telling me where you are going. Really quirky film exploring super natural themes in a very light way. 6. Secret of Roan Inish- one for the kids. " Come back Jimmy..." 7. 13th Warrior- This bombed big time. What can I say I really like movies with Norse themes. Vikings rule!!!

1. Spartan starring Val Kilmer and William H. Macy. It's a David Mamet screenplay about someone attempting to kidnap the president's daughter.
2. The Fall. Oh, The Fall. It's such a beautiful elegant movie that I don't really want to get into too much detail. If you rent it and do not like it, I will reimburse you for the rental charges. The first time most people see it they are absolutely captivated and don't believe what's happening. It was made by Tarsem Singh (The Cell) and stars Lee Pace and little girl and a bunch of heroes. Please watch it. |
