A ride back in time with the local vintage group
Last Saturday's ride with the Camellia City Vintage Lightweight Cycling Club here in Sacramento. Kind of cool, as we went looking for the location of a long-gone, 1890's, bike shop.

Vintage
It's so great to find relaxing ways to ride with our buddies. I think so many of the group rides I end up on becomes a race. They really lack any connection or friendliness most days. I for one am looking for more of these rides where I can share a cup of coffee or hear a story or two that doesn't involve who has the most expensive house, car, etc. This video really looks like a great way to do a ride a little bit different every now and then.

This was mostly the vibe at Cirque for many years. It's a shame that it imploded many years ago now. Always a great time and lots of riding for those who still wanted to. And the tech sessions from some of the who's who in the bike biz were fantastic.
Our local group of retro riders fell apart too right around the same time. I don't think it was purely an aging group fail either as we had some interest from younger riders looking for more than the classic 'shop rides' which most of the time means hammer fest. Hopefully something will rise from the ashes of these events in the future. |
