I’ve been looking at this maker also. I watched the Americas Test Kitchen recommended video it was #1 and many good reviews. Since the crowds have died down I need to go over and get one at the local shops.

Thanks, I did see the Breville and it has great reviews too. The bonivita was also suggested.

We bought one around 2008 or so, combined with a burr grinder set to the right setting it's been fabulous. We normally make 3 pots per day, 7 days per week. I will admit, it took a bunch of experimenting to get the right combination but it was worth the effort. IF it ever dies, we will get another one. Until then we will continue to clean the machine several times a year and keep the carafe clean. Like fourflys, I get it ready to go the night before and just hit the button when I wake up.

Another endorsement from my side. Used one for several years in the US then bought again when I moved to Europe. Always used with a burr grinder and what I would consider top shelf beans albeit bought in bulk.

I have a Moccamaster that I got for $75 on CL. I would not pay $300, especially as now there are a number of machines that hit the proper temperature for best extraction. See the SCAA list:

I use a French press almost exclusively now, but had to go down this route at one point. The two best drip machines I found were the Technivorm and the Bodum Bistro Automatic Pour Over 11001-01TG Coffee Maker. The latter might be out of production now.

I have one with a build date around 2008 I bought at an estate sale and it works great. Quick to produce a carafe of good coffee and it looks cool.

We have one. Use it daily.

What I like about it is it's dead simple. Flip one switch and that's it. Most modern coffee machines have a bunch of features and buttons that I would never use.

Only thing the OP needs to decide on now is glass carafe or stainless thermal carafe. They both have their merits and tradeoffs.

Make sure to use the proper filters and de-scale regularly for a long life.

My Moccamaster is the best coffee maker I've ever had.

We've had a Technivorm since 2012 with absolutely no issues. Works great, makes great coffee.

When our Bonavita dies, we'll probably get a Moccamaster because our kids have one and it's great.

But the Bonavita will likely never die.

Have used mine daily since 2012, descale it about once a year, would gladly pay for another if/when this one dies. Also love the screw in top that keeps coffee hot for a long time (ie evening pot that someone drinks one cup from - cap it and good to go for tomorrow am). Highly recommend!
