Gran Fondo Hincapie, Lehigh Valley, PA, June 3, 2023

"Here’s your chance to join George Hincapie in Lehigh Valley on his favorite style of ride – The Spring Classics. We’re rolling the short climbs of Flanders, the smooth dirt sections of Strade Bianche, and the iconic velodrome finish of Paris-Roubaix all into one epic ride." |

Looks good! The lehigh valley is a great place to ride bikes. Another route on my list of rides to knock out this year!

$230 ????? I was a George fan back in the day before all the doping revelations; no animosity now - he's just another product of the Pro Tour milieu in his era - but $230 for a road bicycle ride????
I'm relatively local to the Lehigh Valley - would rather just download a route from RidewithGPS and ride with a few friends. |

I’ve ridden in 3 of his events (2 in Greenville, and 1 in Chattanooga). The cost is higher than other events I’ve participated in.
That said, the price includes a top quality jersey, a bottle of some pretty good wine, and hands down the best aid stations i have ever seen. Live music at the aid stations, real food, rather than just bananas and gels, and free food for you AND your family at the after party. Also free professional photos. His Fondos treat you like a VIP. |

My wife and I did this ride 9 or 10 years ago. I'm sure a lot has changed in that time. We saw George for all of about 10 seconds at the beginning of the ride. He took off with his group from Bicycling magazine who kept him isolated from the general public. No big deal, we weren't there so much to see George as we were to ride.
We were probably in the second half of the riders to show up at the rest stops. By the time we got there they had started to run out of everything including water. They had timed segments for QOM & KOM during the ride. My wife ended up taking 3rd overall behind Selene Yeager (the Fit Chick) and another Bicycling magazine staffer that was riding with George. I think she got a free tire or something. It's a great area to ride in and we are somewhat local so have ridden in the Lehigh valley several time since. I certainly wouldn't pay that amount and would much prefer to ride the area with a small group or on my own. |

I did the middle distance ride last year and really enjoyed it. Everything was well organized and the traffic was controlled at every significant intersection. The rest stops were first class and were well marked. Conflicts with a wedding this year or I would be going back.
