I agree with you 100%. I held off buying a Wabi for 2+ years for exactly this reason. After my first ride I wondered why I waited so long. My goal for this bike is exactly what you stated: "a modern interpretation of the classic era." I don't care for threadless stems, but Winter stems, which are featured in this thread here, are beautiful IMO.

I do find the Crust Bikes fillet-brazed stem I used pretty as well.

I like the color way on your Wabi. Nice.

Anything that a threadless stem can handle bar size or shape wise can be handled by a quill if someone wanted to make one to do so.

Steel it real

'09 FIERTE, remember comparing it to a Specialized Roubaix at the time wondering which to buy. I made the RIGHT decision.

I guess I can share a few of last year's pickups that I didn't put on here.

First is this Eddy Martelly built SL bike somehow badged now as a Ribble. Haven't done much with this one yet but it's either going to get a Campagnolo Record 10 speed setup or an Ultegra R8000. I haven't decided yet.

Another is this beautiful Giordana Polaris sporting a lovely old Dura Ace setup.

Finally, the Davidson Impulse as I have it setup right now. I'm trying to decide if this or the Ribble above will look better with the new R8000 setup.

Paul Taylor I picked up from A Bicycle Odyssey. I don't know anything about the construction - Mr. Taylor isn't exactly taking calls at the moment - but it's set up with full braze-ons for racks, fenders and Paul centerpulls.
