F1 Fork clearnance
I own an 1996 Serrate Ti with an F1 fork.
I want to purchase Campagnolo Bora One 35mm tall Clincher Wheel set. The rims are 24.2mm wide and I want to mount 25mm wide tires on. Some clinchers are taller than others for a given width. What clinchers if any will give me adequate margin so they do not hit the underneath part of the F1 Fork crown? |

i used to have a F1 fork on a Serotta Legend. Great fork, a bit on the heavy side and yes, limited by the clearance but it wasn't an issue back then as I was riding on 23s and that was before the trend towards wider rims and tires.
I don't have it anymore so I can't say for sure, but I will suggest trying something like Vittoria Rubino Pro 25mm, they tend be true to size or maybe even appear to be a bit smaller, at least to my eyes. I am so spoiled by wider tires these days that compared to a Conti or my usual favorite CG Pave 27, the Rubino Pro 25 seems narrower. I bought a bunch of them on sale and now they just sit there in my basket. If you like, I would sell them to you for the same firesale price that i got them for...I think it was like $20 per tire or something like that. All brand new.

I have Vittoria 25's mounted on Ambrosio Evolution (about the same as an older Open Pro I'm guessing).
Not much clearance on the front--I think a wider rim may not work. There is still some clearance at the top. |

I ran Continental GP 4000 700x25 on my old Serotta Ti with a F1 fork. No clearance problems.
Had Zonda wheels on that one. |

I have that fork on my CSI. With a 700 x 25 Conti Gp 4000s II mounted on a Scirocco wheel they just measure at 25.65mm. They fit but there's maybe 2mm of clearance or less.
I got to Veloflex tires when I'm worried about clearance issues. They always seem to be truer to stated size when mounted and inflated then the Conti's. Last edited by jamesdak; 01-21-2019 at 07:52 AM. |

wider rims will stretch the tire more and make the height profile lower so actually, you might be fine.
As far as tire, veloflex is true to size but in my experience it dissolves just by looking at it. I have had great lucky with spesh tires, they were true to size and are nice. I love vittoria G+ but they do get a bit bigger. |

I ran 25mm Continental 4Seasons on Ambrosio Excellight rims and 25mm Veloflex Arenberg on Amrosio Nemesis rims with an F1 fork...just about maxed out and both of these particular tires run small.
