Yakima cross bar - Jetstream or Core
Looking at getting some crossbars for the minivan. I've had several racks with round bars in the past. Wind noise was very noticeable. I am guessing I would still be able to hear the rack with the aero bars, but hoping it won't be as pronounced.
Anybody with either of these bars? Worth the extra $? |

Get the Jetstream. It makes a significant difference in noise despite the attachments. Even when I used a Yakima wind deflector, it wasn’t even close to the reduction in noise from the Jetstream.

I have Yakima round bars on a hatchback and jet stream on a small suv.
The round bars are not tolerable unless I have a faring at anything above 30mph. And it’s still noisy at high speeds... Jet stream on the suv I planned on getting a faring but it’s so quiet I decided it’s not needed. Could be the cars and not so much the bars. Kia forte5 has way more road noise than our BMW X3 if compared with no rails installed. |

yea, the new aero shapes work very well.
we have a set of the rock mounts aero bars on our van, and with nothing on the roof, they are pretty quiet. as mentioned, some cars are better sound insulated than others. i'm betting a sunroof will let you hear more up there too.

Thanks for the inputs. I’ll be heading to REI to pick up some Jetstreams.
