Cycling BC and general discussion about club fees
Hey all, just wondering how many here are members of Cycling BC? Any thoughts on the membership fee increases? The emails sent out by Cycling BC referred to the impact of COVID-19 and associated increases in the costs of doing business, but they didn't provide specific details about these costs, and I have some concerns after looking through their 2019 financial statements.
Just for reference, the proposed Cycling for All (i.e., non-racing) membership cost for 2021 is $80, up from the 2020 price of $65. In comparison, I have found the following non-racing membership costs for other cycling clubs across Canada: Alberta Cycling Association: $41 http://www.albertabicycle.ab.ca/membership-pricing Manitoba Cycling Association: $60 https://ccnbikes.com/#!/memberships/...nse-membership Saskatchewan Cycling Association: $40 https://saskcycling.ca/buy-a-membership/registration/ Ontario Cycling Association: $36 https://www.ontariocycling.org/membe...rates-pricing/ Quebec Cycling Association: $45 https://fqsc.net/adhesion-et-affiliation New Brunswick Velo: $35 https://velo.nb.ca/membership/ Cycling PEI: $40 http://cpei.ca/membership/ Bicycle Newfoundland: $40 http://bicyclenl.com/membership/#registration I haven't yet looked into the costs of racing licenses, but the immediate concern I have is the rapid inflation of Cycling BC’s basic membership costs relative to other clubs. At the present rate of $65, a Cycling BC membership is the most expensive in Canada, and at $80 the membership cost would be at least double the cost of all but one other provincial cycling club. Anyways, just wanted to get some conversation going about this, and I would like to hear about the experiences of people in other clubs where membership costs spiralled rapidly. Thanks! |

The club with whom I ride has a Facebook page to post pics yet that is about it.
No annual membership fees. No legal release forms. No map printing services. |
