2019 - Paceline BOY (Bike of the Year)

Please submit your pick for BOY 2019!

I am torn with indecision and have narrowed it down to two.

MB's Kirk!

OR

Ryun's Hampsten

So many other great bikes.

which do you favor?

I don’t know if he took possession in 2018 or 2019 but Clean’s Kirk MRB takes it for me. It is big. It is blue. It is outfitted exquisitely. And I can only speculate but I bet it rides better than it looks!

Before I give my pics, a few disclaimers...

1) I'll always prefer the aesthetics of rim-brake bikes over disc. Now, as far as functionality, that's a whole different conversation

2) Don't care for sloping TTs or tapered head tubes.

3) I prefer more traditional color schemes.

So,

#1 Pinoymamba's Bishop. Man, that thing is elegant. Black tape put it over the top.

#2 Vincenz's Peg Respo. Could've gone either way for my #1/#2

#3 Clean39's Ti/Carbon FF. (new to him this year) The only bike that would even come close to my "no new bikes pledge."

#4 AndySti's Allliance All-Road. Nothing sexier than raw Ti from a builder that has a cult-like following here in the Bay Area. Full disclosure: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I'm getting the same exact thing, with a little more clearance.

Appreciate the props on my Kirk MRB - it was my favorite bike to ride in 2019, but it was finished in 2018, so... And likewise with the Firefly, great bike, and rebuilt and new to me this year, but it is actually a 2014.

My favorite new bikes on the forum this year are:

1. Morgul's Kirk:

Just perfect in every way once that Tomii stem was added and the R12 with Boras..

2. Joostx' Built 29er:

Not just for the bike, but for all the settings it has seen and the scenes it has set.

3. Dave's Fat Kirk:

Unfortunately no full pics just yet.... I'm in love with the color on it, and I think it is always special to see what a builder builds for themselves.

I'm never sure what the rules are concerning "new" or "new to me" as far as BOY. And I know everyone here is a stickler for the rules

In general, I would think a bike would only be eligible in the year it's first built up complete, but perhaps a new paint job or major frame modification could renew eligibility.

Heresy! Bikes are for looking at, not riding

M-B’s Kirk is hands down my favorite. I loved it when he first shared it on here and then he added the stem and went full-on bike porno!

This said, there are plenty of other really great bikes already mentioned that I’ve enjoyed looking at.

Here's my pick--Freakforti's Seven Evergreen. What fine bikeness. Many here that vie, so I just went with the first that leapt to mind.
