planetcyclery
I received an email from them announcing that they are back in business. When I clicked on the shop now button I got a page from Microsoft saying that the site has been reported as unsafe due to phishing. Does this mean that someone bought up their domain name and customer list simply as a means to scam?

I believe Cambria Bike bought the website and domain name.
You are probably seeing odd https returns while some server migration is happening. |

Saying Planet Cyclery is back in business may be a bit generous. Cambria bike bought the IP of the now defunct Planet Cyclery, including the web domain name planetcyclery.com and customer lists (email addresses, etc.), but no other assets. It appears that Cambria bike has set up web pages behind the planetcyclery.com domain name that looks very similar to the cambriabike.com web pages, but with Planet Cyclery logos instead of Cambria bike logos. The product selection between the web pages looks similar as well.

You're right! It looks like every product you access if from the Cambria catalog.

Sounds similar to when Nashbar went out of business and someone bought their name but evidently didn't establish the connections to purchase gobs of closeout items. I can't remember who that was but I never saw anything of interest and don't know if "Nashbar" still exists. I bought a lot of closed out Campagnolo 10 speed stuff from Nashbar and Planetcyclery. I've purchased from Cambria in the past but in general I expect to pay retail from them. It will be interesting to see if they will fill the same niche as Nashbar and Planetcyclery.
