"Female Tour de France" has been around under various names. The most recent Tour de France Femmes came to life in 2022. Previous versions in France had different names, none of which were The Women's Tour. For me personally, I saw the excitement of La Course by Le Tour de France in 2014 which finished a few hours before the men's Tour de France final stage. |

Yes, it is slightly confusing on race names, but also common on this forum. Seems very few actually read the articles before feeling the need to comment on them. https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...wOMENS%27+TOUR

How many bike racing fans know who Marianne Martin is off the top of their head?

It's really a shame the race is being postponed. But everything is a bit of a mess in the UK right now, so not surprising it is also affecting cycling.
British Cycling has been working hard to promote more women in cycling. Compared to riding in the US, I see many more women out and about riding in London than I ever did in NYC area. I think the Tour was too close to the RideLondon Classique which is a 3 day race in May this year. It probably consumed all the sponsorship money around. The 3rd stage of the race is a crit on the Mall in central London. A terrible place for the women to race, but an awesome place for fans to watch... It is a great atmosphere. https://www.ridelondon.co.uk/the-cla...es/stage-three 2019 there was a furious crash on St. James during the finish sprint.
