I am trying to not justify buying one of these for $400. I mean I have a really nice set of wheels?

Still some decent stuff to be found, if you dig around a bit. I was close on a number of DT swiss hubs, but resisted... for now...

Bought a couple pairs of smith glasses, castelli jersey, some flat pedal shoes, because hey why not try them out. It kind of looks like the dt 350 front boost hub for $99 before the discount is a strait spoke one instead of j-bend. Not going to take my chances on that I guess. I had the xd freehub in the cart, but don't think I really "need" that.

Thumbs up

After a lot of hemming and hawing, I bought a pair of rims last night. Probably not the ones I would have chosen when the selection was (presumably) better, but both shipped for 50 some bucks...

I assume this is a 45mm deep 700C rim with 24 spoke holes? Anybody know if the remaining 700C rims are the same width?

Thanks, Doug
My built wheels with 36mm rims measure 17mm internally.

My 55, 45 and 32mm rims all measure 19mm internally.

Apologies if this has been asked previously... does anyone know if the 27.5" XC rims are hooked or hookless?

They're down to $24 each, shipped free, so at this point I would ask if it really matters, lol.

FWIW, my own 53mm and 45mm width PUB rims were hookless, and these look exactly the same from the meager single photos.
So I am betting they're also hookless.

At such a low price, I'm even considering re-lacing the wheels on a 26" wheel bike, using a slightly narrower 27.5" tire which is only 12.5mm taller at the rim. I know, the trend is to add tire volume, but the rims on my King-hubbed 26" wheelset are quite banged up just now, so I'll have to consider my tire options after studying the clearance around the existing 26" tires.

Thanks for the reply! Looks like I dumb lucked into ordering 2 with the same internal width :^) - Doug

it doesn't look like they have anymore rim brake rear rims left. I snagged a 20/24 set of the 55s for $21 shipped! All the discounts, a $50 off coupon because of a previous error of theirs, and 50% off!

I couldn't resist picking up a set the of PUB 700R-45-24 rims. They arrived today and look solid. Weighing in at 480 grams each so not super lightweights but not bad for 25 bucks each. I have two questions:

1) First I bought two 24 holes "rear" rims and want to confirm that I can build up one of the 24 hole rims into a front wheel. Realized too late that I should have ordered a 20 hole front (the 24 hole font hubs are harder to come by). I don't see any problems other than the added weight but thought I would ask.

2) Has anyone built a set of these rims using Bitex hubs with 2X lacing? Trying to figure out the best spoke to use and the correct ERD.

I have only ever built a front wheel so basically a beginner but looking forward the the project.

I built my first set of wheels last fall by following the E-book by Roger Musson. I highly recommend it, pretty much everything you need to know is in there including all his details on measuring ERD and calculating spoke length. Here is the link:

At least 1 seller on AliExpress is selling 24/24 Novatec hub sets for under $50 all in. That’s what I’m planning on, I’m going to wait to make sure I do actually receive two 24 hole rims first though

I guess that it makes sense to me now, why they ended up with just the 20h front rims in stock and no more 24h rims for all of their remaining road rims.

Maybe you should buy up the last two "orphan" 20h 45mm rims, to get some matched pairs going (maybe offer them here, idk).

Hmm, that’s a thought as both the rims I ordered are still available w/ 20 holes. I intentionally ordered both 24 though, I was thinking lower profile front rim with same # of spokes made sense (for me anyway). I really doubt they had any kind of matched numbers of 20 and 24 holes of the same profile. At this point, it might make sense to sit tight and see if they get even cheaper…
