Kucharik closing its retail showroom in Gardena
I don't know if it's still open, but if it is, there should should be some nice stuff on sale.

50 is a good run, surprised it lasted this long.

I'm not quite that vintage, but my 1st leather hairnet was also a Kucharik. Big Fat thing late 70s. Also had some Kucharik wool tights to go with my Cool Gear wool Jersey.

Raced on juniors team in Kucharik wool. John & John Jr. contributed so much to the Socal scene in the 70s.

Looks like it is just the showroom, you can still buy online.

The only online sales are of what is left, not continuing online. Closed up for good. https://www.bicycleretailer.com/indu...n#.YgExIy-B1p8 |

Sad to hear. They were my "go-to" vendor for repairs. They rescued several items of my cycling clothing that had poor quality stitching. I'm still using a pair of bib shorts they repaired several years ago.

I have a pair of Helenca tights purchased in '74, still going good, longest lasting material ever. Lucky to get a pair of their latest reproduction Helenca shorts this summer.

I bought a synthetic chamois from another vendor, and after literally dozens of failed attempts to sew it properly into a pair of shorts, I ordered a chamois from Kucharik solely in the hope that, after doing so, I could get some advice on how to get that bugger to lie proper and flat.
Kucharik was kind enough to share a tip that pointed me in the right direction. He also told me when he replaced chamois pads, he only used TWO PINS to hold it in place. Trust me; that's incredible. I used dozens and still couldn't get it right.

Some interesting vintage bits for sale here: https://www.kucharik.com/collections...nd-memorabilia. Worth browsing even if you don't want to buy.
I love this magazine cover showing a 1946 road race in Staten Island. The riders were on track bikes.

I just got some lycra shorts from the sale - simple, uncomplicated chamois. And $10.
