Help needed on valuation - 15yr old bike I may sell- weight weenie budget special?
58cm Felt F1C - maybe has ~1500 miles on it. Built it up in 2005 summer, rode around that season and stopped riding for long long time so it just sat in basement
its got DA 7700/9sp bits on it. Not a bike that would get much interest/sell on here but I'll put on CL, etc. Curious as how much to ask? If too low then I'll just let it sit in basement as a spare if someone my size ever wants to ride with me. https://imgur.com/gallery/t1YJGam |

It's too nice a bike to basically give away. 9 speed doesn't really hold you back. Good luck with your decision.

Maybe $1000?
It is 15 years old- The ship has sailed on everything that is on the bike. |

Even the chainset? Seems like an 800.00 bike to me due to age as you say. Not to mention no discs and room for 40s. ENO SS I say. Loose one chainring... The long steer tube and chainset may actually get it sold.. Sell the wheels separate if you have some alloys to toss on...

I have to agree. That was a nice bike 15 years ago and honestly is still a good bike, but value is going to likely be sub $1000. You may be able to part it out for a little more, but it may not be worth the time stripping it down. That is an impressive weight for a complete bike that is a decade and a half old. Well now’s the time to sell it as the market is good for ready to ride bikes. You might be able to get a sense of your local market by seeing how long complete bikes are sitting on CL. You might try $900-1000 but I think other posters are right at $800.
I recently sold my wife’s 2010-ish Tarmac Elite with DA 10, Fulcrum 7 wheels for $800. Sold it in 1-2 days so I might have under priced it a little. |

A riding buddy did the same thing. A week ago. Pulled a bike out of storage he does not ride. Let's say it's somewhat similar to yours in quality and age. Listed at $800 on CL. Sold in 4 hours. $800 seems to be the magic number but if I sold a bike on CL in 4 hours it was underpriced IMO. People Want Bikes. Strike while the iron is hot.

Just sold a 2009 trek for 1300 CDN with DA and easton carbon rims.
I would try 1.1k USD and go from there. Also its a great looking bike! |

I'll give you a giant bottle if Tito's and a case of good beer
Cool bike, but the game has changed. Unfortunately, not a lot of value...you were supposed to ride it |

In 2016 I bought a new 2012 Felt Z3 off the LBS floor.
They blew it out at 50% off. 2500 for a 5000 bike. Replaced the heavy wheels with HED Belgium's and the Tiagra cassette with Ultegra. It had Di2. I got 1000 for it this past April and felt lucky to get it. Good luck with your sale. It always hurts to bite the bullet selling a bike Last edited by BryanE; 08-03-2020 at 08:36 AM. |

It could be worse—although you slammed the stem, you didn't cut the steerer :
https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=255810 Re the wheels, even 15-year old Zipps have lost a lot of their value since Zipp keeps updating their rims and hubs. So not sure that it makes too much sense to part them out. Ebay will get you the most looks, but also the most hassle. You could sell through a volume seller like Piermont, but then you only get ~80% in store credit. If you could get $800 - $1k locally that would probably be the quickest and easiest way to go. |
