I did Cross Mountain Crusher last year, and I'm signed up to do it again this year. Fun ride, the snow was insane last year.

I did it on 38s last year, and IIRC that was just about right for the rougher parts, 35s would be fine too I'm sure, less ok but maybe not ideal.

It's been a few years since I've ridden it, but the descent on Mary Smith Hill Rd is steep and in bad condition. If I were riding anything narrower than 35 mm tires, I'd get off and walk the steepest part (probably around 15-18%).

I don't remember anything being in particular bad shape but its been a minute and it was cold and snowy. I did spin out for a second on the 20% hill but got back in the saddle and off I went. I always use overkill tires but they do come in handy sometimes

Just looked at their website, the ride has been postponed until October.
Hopefully we can make it up there by then

I am not convinced, but I sure hope that I am totally wrong.

I am not convinced either tbh. Why I also postponed Dirty Kanza till next year (well not the only reason but one fo the reasons). I may actually go out and ride Cross Mountain Crusher solo in the next few weeks to come as my job ends this Friday.

If you ride it, drop a line here of what it is like, if this craziness extends for much longer I might do that as well.
For all of our sake, lets hope I am wrong.

the second half of this year is going to have a pretty wild calendar with all the postponements.

i strongly suspect we will be good to go in Oct. Let's hope for the best here.

will do. I am only an hour away, not even. It makes me sad because this Saturday is going to be a great day for a bike ride which is when the ride would have happened. I bet some people are showing up and ridding it so I am not going to go out there Saturday but probably next week. I will update ya.

Yeah, its going to be pretty jam packed. D2R2 August, September Farmers, Oct this. In a way, fall is the best time to ride so it could be awesome.

Wanted to bring this back to life, I am going to be up in the Catskills in a few weeks and wanted to see if you rode it, and what your impressions were?.

It's also funny/sad to see how back in April we all were sure that Covid would be a thing of the past by October and now it looks like it might not even be gone by October 2021....

I have not yet done it. I was going to do it this last weekend but got way too hot.

This is still one of the rides that is still scheduled for fall but I highly doubt it will happen.
