Farmer's Daughter - Sold Out

Crazy how popular these rides are getting. Lucky I got an email they were approaching limit and signed up last week.

yeah, last year there was spots until a few weeks before the event if I remember correctly.

Overland vermont sold out in like 30 minutes. People can hate on this gravel thing but it has been putting more people on bikes in the past few years than anything else.

I signed up too - I heard the single track segments are a little gnarly, but 65 miles seems about the right length for a challenging gravel ride.

I didn’t sign up in time. I received the email about the remaining 120 spots and then forgot all about it. Wonder if at some point they will end up staggering the start and making it available to more people?

Single track would be fine if there wasnt 500 people trying to go through + wasnt muddy

Not sure they will open it up more but they should most definitely stagger the start. I am gonna kick it back for a few and let most go ahead and then hit that first section. I think its gonna make it a much better ride.

I agree, that was really a bit of a $#!?show with the mud and practically unridable with so many people just stuck in the mud everywhere. Still a beautiful ride with great scenery!

for what this ride is, they should just have a start time for an "A" group that wants to ride fast and competitively, and then just an informal roll out for the rest of the field, with no set "start" time.

they also need to forget about the 45 minute long speech at the beginning, lol

Too bad, but not a biggie for me - plenty of back roads to explore between my house and Chatham this summer!

. . . and I will lobby with the organizers for that. Already signed up and so is my girlfriend.

I was with Angry last year and the forest road portion of the second off road section was the worst I have ever seen it. Totally unrideable. Here's some pics:

I've ridden in that area a lot and will be skipping the single track portions. People have been doing that ever since the first one, when there were no bail out routes mapped or cue sheets available for them.

I was lucky to get out quick last year and hit that muddy section ahead of most people. It still sucked. I missed the sign up this year. Any other suggestions for similar rides in the northeast? I've done D2R2 a couple of times and will probably do that one again, but would like to try some other rides.

One of the organizers of the farmers daughter just posted this

www.balekicker.com

seems like the same or similar ride as the Gravel Gobler. Which if it is, is a very nice ride.

Also look at the Cross Mountain Crusher

I did it last year and it was fantastic. Will be doing it again this year.

It was half-baked on a few fronts. That drawn out preamble was bizarre, not that anyone could hear it. Was he reading the entire cue sheet aloud?
