Direct mount brake questions
I’m going to swap my DA 9000 to an incoming Tarmac frameset and need DM brakes. Looking for advice about what are probably inconsequential differences among them. But since I’ve never used them, I figured I would ask.
Any preference among Ultegra 6810 (cheapest and middling weight), Ultegra 8010 (nicer looking, heaviest), and DA 9010 (spendy but oh so matchy with the black frame). The eeBrakes are just outta my range. |

6810 had premature pivot wear issues.
8010 is what you want. |

Bontrager branded DM brakes. Can't say how they compare......Bontragers are the only DM brakes I've used. Solid performers for the last two years.

I’m guessing you suggest 8010 for price/performance ratio. Merlín has 8010 for $107 for the set and 9110 for $202. That’s definitely for both front and rear. Still 8010? Last edited by kgreene10; 11-29-2019 at 12:57 PM. |

The Bontragers are good but not Shimano good. The TRP’s are really nice too. |

If I had the scratch to buy ee brakes I would just make the move to a disc road bike instead.
