Heron Bicycles is Back

I saw a blurb on the Classic Rendezvous that Heron frames are once again being built.

i emailed Greg Parker of Bicycle Classics and this is what he wrote back:

"They are $2400 plus $60 for shipping, but the first 25 early adoptors are paying $2000 plus the $60.

"Any other questions I can answer for you? What size and color are you considering?

"I can send several photos of a frame to show details. The website is still completely out of date, but I have a local guy working on a complete re-do"

NEW!! Heron Announces the New Sportif Frames!! Built by Waterford Precision Cycles, just like the previous Herons were, the Sportif is a no-compromise road frame and fork. Short of Expedition Touring, there is very little that you cannot do on a Heron Sportif, in our opinion. Using NOS Reynolds 531 tubing from good-old-Birmingham, England, plus Kaisei "Toei Special" fork blades, we spec'ed a frame and fork that are very versatile, elegant, and fully-appointed. Durable, timeless, fast, and comfortable were out goals. Clearance for up to a 30 mm tire with fenders, or a 33 mm tire without, which we feel are the "sweet spots" of 700c tires (if you want to go much wider than that, go 650b, in our opinion), the Heron Sportif is designed with sensible, low-trail "all-day-comfortable" geometry That "takes care of a tired rider," has good front-load capability, balanced-load capability, and unloaded performance capability. Sizes are 50-64 cm, center-to-top, in 2 cm. increments. The 50 cm. size (only) uses 26-inch tires. We recommend the fabulous Compass 26 x 1.25 Extra Leger tires for that size Heron Sportif. Colors are Candy Apple Red or Dark Continental Blue Metallic. Availability is January, 2017.

These should make non-racers very happy.

That sounds really good. Except for the part about needing a time machine (availability is 2017?).

Well that’s interesting news. Beats me to the punch of the reveal of mine with a fresh coat of powder. Here’s a teaser before pic. I had a hell of a time finding replacement decals. Maybe they’ll have a tubing sticker for me.
