Yup - another tough loss but they had some good chances.
Lukaku is good but our midfield doesn't track back quickly enough. Gattuso needs to figure things to quickly.

Good lord, what a complete basket case Barça is...

I hear there’s a certain well-regarded but out-of-work gentleman who previously worked wonders in Barcelona. But then again, he may be too loyal to contemplate working for Barça

Yeah, I think Enrique or Martinez are probably the top contenders.

do you mean Tata Martinez or Roberto Martinez? Both would appear unlikely to leave their respective current teams.

Apparently is

Granted, i have heard of Setien (re: his time at Betis), but this seems a bit out of his league...

I’d have imagined that Barça would spring fora caretaker, but 2.5 yr contract?

Then again, same club that paid over 250 M € for two flops...

The email I received only said "Quique Setien - Barce". I had to look him up - I was not familiar with him.

https://wtop.com/sports/2020/01/at-b...-long-admired/

https://www.coachesvoice.com/quique-setien-real-betis/

"A chess fanatic who has even played against world champions Anatoli Karpov and Gary Kasparov, Setien believes some of the game's principles can be applied to football".

So now Barce vs Napoli - both changing Misters in mid stream!!!

The quote in your post is interesting. I guess at this point, any plan is better than what Valverde conjured up (which is almost zilch)

Here's a video I saw a few years back on Setien (during his Betis tenure)

Yikes, crickets around here lately.

Where are all the Scouser supporters? Surely that last game against Wolves should give you hope (the FA Cup draw aside).

What about the Spurs supporters? Levy has finally loosened the shoe strings, and look at the players he's brought in. One wonders how thing might have been, had Levy not set a ridiculous 130M pound (or was it EUR) evaluation for someone in the last year of his contract. Now he's collecting maybe a quarter of Eriksen's true valuation, all the while having Eriksen playing without verve or enthusiasm for the better part of a season. If only a transfer had been made back in 2018...

And lastly, congrats to Parthenope for defeating Juve! If nothing else, sure makes for an interesting run-in for the Serie A finale.

If all goes well hopefully a rematch in the Coppa final - May.

Zlatan scored today in extra time but game was already won at that point - sets up a Zlatan - CR7 duel.
Napoli to play the winner of tomorrows match (Inter vs Fiorentina).

Not complaining, but this feels weird.

Partly, it's knowing that this can't last. City's reversion, for no real discernible reason other than perhaps the Sane and Laporte injuries, is a reminder that it can happen very quickly.

But, of course, finally winning the League and wrapping it up early would be a tremendous relief, and a great way to get the monkey off our backs.

Kevin Prince Boateng left Firenze on loan to Turkey.. Seems a great career that would have been is slowly coming to an end.

I think you guys will be top dog for at least a few years.

I have a hunch that Pep won't be staying around Man City too much longer (basically gone by the end of the 2021 season, if he doesn't win a Champion's League trophy). Sure, he previously had to contend with Klopp when the latter was at BvB, but BvB has much less cachet and really couldn't keep up with Bayern's recruiting (and often directly lost out to FC Hollywood). While City's benefactors can still easily outspend Fenway with impunity, the difference between the clouts of the respective teams is much less.

Furthermore, whatever Fenway's purse cannot provide is easily remedied by the prudence of LFC's prudent personnel moves. It may all just get a bit too daunting for Pep...
