I recognize the name, but I didn't realize how long back the builder goes.

I think I'm maybe just asking for bike websites to check out.

Steve, or Stephen Bilenky, built me a custom Reynolds 753 back in the late '80s and he's still around. If you have the opportunity to call him, ask about the "Sterling" he made for Eric

I would say (and want a frame from) Tom Ritchey, but I don't guess you can order up a fillet brazed frame from Tom himself today. Be a whole lot cooler if you could, though.

I feel like a dunce for forgetting about him. I'd also forgotten about Harry Havnoonian and the rear brake being turned around.

I think the only ones he makes these days are those for NAHBS. I also think he only does TIG welding these days. Of course, nowithstanding the TIG issue, I would have a hard time turning down a chance to get one Tom built.

Another one I had failed to consider was Don Walker since it appears he started building in 1991.

I've ridden a frame made by T Ritchey. It was a fillet brazed MTB from the 80's with a custom paint matched stem. All red. Rode straight and true as the best of them, perfect craftsmanship. Traded it for a 1982 colnago superissimo with a full super record group. At the time I thought I was getting the good end of the bargain.

Those early racing mtb Ritchey bikes are coveted and worth good money. For good reason.

Traded a work of art / piece of history for a collection of tubes that I've ridden probably 15,000 miles, I guess in life you win some and you lose some.
