Done.
Do you think they make it on purpose for the same day as the Mt. Washington Hill Climb so John Bayley can't go?

I asked the D2R2 organisers last year to put the date back to the regular weekend. I didn't realise that I also needed to ask the Mt. Washington organisers to keep the hill-climb on its regular weekend...

Disappointedly yours,
John

The "nice account" answers your question if you understand it was written by a very, very strong rider. Anyone who can ride it that fast is nine levels beyond me.

If you want a average riders account (me), it is about 11 hours of a mixture of pure pain and beautiful roads and scenery. Once completed it becomes what I can only assume what childbirth is like..... you only remember the beauty and excitement and forget the pain, and willing to do it again.

Take heed on the gearing, pie pan (34) in the back is a great thing.
