Wow, I live fairly close to Box Dog. Will have to cycle over to see your frames!

DukeHorn- when you stop in say hello for me! Good group of folks over there.

Bluesea- similar. The cross bike is a juiced robin's egg wet paint. The Pelicans are a slightly deeper and darker blue powder (yup, that's powder).

This week I built the first of the new 650b's. Gabe (from Box Dog) came up and we did a test assembly and check through- all golden and ready for prime time!

Thanks- it does come in handy.

More sub assemblies for this run of 650b's.

A few more brazing shots from this batch- keeping it tidy as these will be headed out unfiled.

Great work as always!

On a side note, would reaming the seat tube with a brake cylinder hone remove any burrs that cause seatpost scratches? I know that isn't the final post but see the the zigzag scratches, wouldn't a hone alleviate the insertion marks?

Thanks Andy- all the seat tubes are reamed for size. That seat post is 12 years old and only serves as a tool in the shop for clamping during frame prep and such. Those scratches are probably as old.

That photo was taken during this pre-shipping process. I think I had just faced the head tube, and you can see some powder from chasing the seat binder bolt.

All of the Pelicans (and Winters) ship with properly reamed and honed, faced and chased seat tubes, BB shells and head tubes.

Eric,

I didn't mean to imply your seat tubes caused the damage to a very old seat post. That seat post looks just like mine so I'm assuming there is a burr in my seat tube causing the damage so now I'm going to hone my old bike.

Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work.

Sorry for the thread drift on your great bikes.

Andy

A ball hone is a good way to go. If you have a standing burr you may want to spot sand it flush then hone smooth. Also check to see if any sand or grit is trapped in the grease sometimes you'll get a sneaky bit.
