And American vulture capitalists (LBO "specialists") have invaded the EPL

First Man U with the Glazers and now this consortium with Burnley.

As I've ranted elsewhere, the incentives are quite perverse when the buyers use the equity of the acquisition target as collateral for the loan used for the purchase.

Many of us may not care for Sean Dyche and Burnley, but the club had no debt and a positive bank balance sheet (tens of millions of pounds). In one swoop, that money is gone, and Burnley is now owes 60 million pounds. The acquisition group think that they can squeeze things from the club to finance things, but Burnley isn't Southampton (a club with veritable feeder club status), and it's unclear how things will go when should the club ever get relegated.

Also, another cracking match in the Coppa Italia

Inter was leading 1-0 at home, only to have one of its most senior defenders (and one of the quartet of ManU castaways) make a callow, unnecessary mistake in the penalty area. That's 1-1.

CR then robbed Inter blind when Inter failed to deal with a back pass properly, and now it's Inter 1 - 2 Juve. One'd imagine that should Inter lose the two-legged cup tie, it would really pile on the pressure on Conte.

And that was a thumping and a half at Anfield earlier today. City probably has the title wrapped up. It's actually quite impressive how well City is doing, despite not having Aguero and De Bruyne.

At this rate, I'm not sure if LFC could even finish top-four.

City's title defense last year kinda went up in smokes when Laporte injured himself, and Pep had to play with a makeshift defense. Seems like the same is happening at LFC, albeit to an even greater degree. Too bad we probably won't see a repeat of the head-to-head battle from the 2018-2019 season.

It sure warms the cockles of my heart to see a practitioner of the dark arts get penalized.

Chiellini clothlined an opponent and tried to pass it off as if it were nothing. VAR disagrees, and Insigne makes it 1-0 Napoli. For once, VAR does something right.

Still plenty of time for Juve to do something.

That would be nice, especially if Zlatan gets to retire on a high note

Was biting my nails at the end - 6 minutes of extra time?
Wed Juve plays Porto. Should be a good match.

Lost today: 2-0. Spezia dominated.

Possibly the worst milan performance this season. That was tough to watch. Looked incredibly poor. Defense and midfield could barely sting a few passes together and lost every loose ball during the 90m or perhaps they got to one eventually i kinda faded out there for a while .)

Oh boy, the team of can't-shoot-straights can overtake Milan with a win tomorrow.

Also, it would appear that I previously undercounted the number of Manchester United Castaways on that squad, for I had forgotten about Darmian.

Europa League
CBS Sports - golazo!show - a medley of all the games being played. Tons of goals (59) and tidbits of info provided by the announcers. I totally enjoyed it (except for one match).

Yeah, the CBS broadcast isn't a bad deal, especially as there are quite a few quality teams in the Europa League (e.g. AC Milan and Lille). All that high scoring is actually quite bunkers, as exemplified by Rangers coming back to win 4-3 away.

Unlike Man U, both Lille and Milan are contesting for their respective domestic league titles

I’m still a bit perplexed at how Lille is ahead of PSG though.
