Need a new pump head.

I have an old Silca brass press on presta pump head. Last night, while removing the head from a threaded valve I actually pulled the valve through the inside hole on the rim and ripped the tube.
I'm done. I've used those heads since God was a boy, but that was the final straw. What's a good aftermarket pump head that has a thumb latch? Preferably metal.

If you're willing to pay up there's no better than a Hirame. I just picked up my second at Jitensha Studio, they appear to have the best new pricing. A lot of money, but turns an OK pump into the best pump I've ever had.

Besides the Silca version, isn't there another copy?

Headed to japan in a couple of weeks and planning on picking up a hirame based on all the good reviews. Would be willing to pick up additional for forum members if any are interested.

Alex's cycle has both Hirame designs, $55-60. Things arrive reasonably quick.

Topeak

The one on my Joe Blow Pro going strong after many years. Even though it has a lever for latching it onto presta valves, I find that just shoving it on without locking the lever works just fine.

Topeark TwinHead

I've got a Topeak Joe Blow Sport with this head that has worked reliably for years. I liked the pump head so much that I retrofitted it to several other pumps.

The Silca head is fine....The problem is with threaded valve stems.

Ebay seller ttekno makes/sells a Hirame-type design.

I put one of his previous gen designs on a cheap Topeak pump. It's very awesome.

The SKS head is available as a service part and is the nicest non-boutique version you'll find. The Hiramae's are nice though.
