Campy cassete - adding cogs

As some new routes have consisted of 20% grade hills I am finding a 34-27 low gear is not sufficient for my 62 year old legs. If the hills were any longer, or the grade picked up any more, I am not sure I would have made it. Otherwise, the 27 tooth cog has worked out fine. So, rather than get a new rear mech, full cassette and a 12-32, I thought I would just get the 23-29 part for my existing one. It is only about 6 mos old, as is the chain, so it should work. I don't cross chain to the outer two cogs so the existing chain length should be okay. Am I missing anything? I know the final 3 cogs will now have a 3 tooth jump instead of 2.

Going from 12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25-27 to 12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-26-29

I wouldn't want take a chance of having to remember not to cross-chain with a too-short chain.
Reconsider getting a 12-32 and a new chain.
No need for a new derailleur (I run a 12-32 with a record short arm)

If you can go big-big w/o problem, it'll be fine..pricey, that section, but if you have it..If sized for 27, 29 should be fine.

Yeah, the 3 cog cluster is $63, but still about half a new cassette and I can still use my existing chain. I'm not a fan of the big jumps in the 11-32 H11 setup and would very rarely, if ever, need the 32. As it stands, the 27 has been fine except for the 15-20% hills and I only have a few of them.

If you don't mind an 11t first cog, Merlin has Centaur 11 speed 11-29 cassette for $68:

Good Luck!
