2018 Campy FD

I now have some experience with the 2018 Campy Chorus FD. It's sure different than any other I've installed. If your frame has a cable tension adjuster, you'll have fewer problems. My new Colnago C-RS has internally routed cables and no tension adjusters. Campy provides an inline tension adjuster, but with the short length of cable housing, it doesn't seem real practical.

What's very different, is there is no trimming of the FD cage when in the big ring position, and none is needed, for any cog. The big ring limit screw only functions to allow enough over-travel of the cage during the shift, then returns to a position that's really determined by cable tension. Loosen the screw enough and it will toss the chain off right side of the big ring.

The little ring shift requires one click to get onto the ring, followed by none, one or two trim clicks, depending on how large the cog in use. If you're using some of the smaller cogs, no trim shift is needed. If you've used the second trim click and need to go back, the finger lever allows two trim clicks for smaller cogs. You can go back and forth, as needed.

I couldn't find any instructions for the cable routing, but the cable goes over the top of the small tab near the clamp bolt, not between the tab and the bolt. You can tell that by the location of a small groove, where the cable is supposed to rest, when clamped.

yes to all of this. I have a couple 2015+ FDs. They are much better imo, shift very well. Love that there is no trim in the big ring. 3 clicks you in the big ring and you can shift a whole cassette, no noise.

I highly recommend you install the inline tension adjuster or it will be a pain to properly adjust the FD.

BUT, if you don't have a cable adjuster...put in lowest cog in back(biggest cog), small ring in front, get height and alignment right..inner limit screw till chain just tickles inner cage, pull cable TIGHT(push thumb button down when doing this), tighten fixing bolt..THEN turn inner limit screw OUT just a wee bit, tightens cable and moves FD proper distance from chain..3 clicks, big ring..highest gear(smallest cog in back) and outer limit screw just touching the front der stop..
