Bass lines that carry the song?
Two come to my mind:

Strip the Soul - Porcupine Tree

Soda Stereo - Angel Electrico

My favorite
The Cure - Other Voices

Actually a solid bass line inside the insanity that is Man or Astro-man? Skip to 0:50-ish for the music

I’m not a huge Duran Duran fan, but heard this isolated track awhile ago and found it impressive: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr3HCNIgv40

Also worthy choices. Peter Hook did an interview with Sirius XM last year about songs with his favorite bass lines, and he had some interesting choices.

In addition to the many great musicians mentioned above, a few that haven't come up yet:

Paul Jackson on Herbie Hancock's album "Headhunter"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m3qOD-hhrQ

"Roundabout" by Yes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Tdu4uKSZ3M

Not as iconic as most of what is included here, but Joe Dart (of Vulfpeck) plays a mean Fender Bass:

(It's worth checking out their channel for more of his work if you like that Neo-Motown Vibe.)

If Herbie Flowers tuning in, tuning up, and then tuning down down down is good enough for Martin Scorsese, Luca Guadagnino, and those TV commercials, he's probably good enough for everyone else.
