After today’s ididaride gravel I’m definitely thinking 48mm gravel kings on 650b wheels plush and comfy without feeling slow.

Looks awesome and that’s the best color I’ve seen yet for an open! I’ll be on this!

I have a set of 700c Reynolds ATR incoming for my Mason Bokeh which currently has 650b with Panaracer Comet Hardpack 2.0 and I’m so confused about what wheelset and tire to run...

Top of the list are the Schwalbe G-one in 38 or 40mm

I like the Panaracer Comets but they sure feel
sluggish....

I think as far as a 700c tire goes, 38mm would be perfect for d2r2. 35mm be fine too and 32 is adequate as well.

dont overthink it.

i've done d2r2, from the 100k to the 180k on 32c panaracer paselas a half dozen times and more including some solo unsanctioned trips. before "gravel bikes" were even a thing, 30c michelin jets used to be basically the tire to run.

plenty of folks in the early years did the rides on 28's.

the past few years have seen everything from pure road bikes to fat bikes.

in other words - whatever you show up with - you'll be fine. you may need to adjust speed here and there, but no big deal. d2 is a day to relax and enjoy a day on the bike, dont overthink the tires. run what ya brung.

I can't make it and feel that by the time I have the opportunity it will have long since jumped the shark in one way or another.

Still enjoy living vicariously through those that do make it. Tire consternation and all!

I agree.

The weather has been all weird, will we have a rainy D2R2? I sure hope not. In the 4 years I have been it has always been dry. I think that would be the reason for wider tires, if its muddy but if not ride what you brang.
