SRAM buys Time Pedals

There goes a great pedal.

Used to love Time pedals but they lost me with a cleat standard change after they discontinued the Impact, among other factors.

They have an extreme uphill battle to make Time pedals relevant again IMHO.

For years they were the best pedal on the market but have been eclipsed for most riders I think.

Maybe some IP in there for a pending power pedal design?

Been on Time since the 90s and just purchased a pair not a month ago. I'm hard pressed to get behind much of what SRAM does.

THe impact was great aswell... IMO they did not need to re invent the pedals every year.... the original time plus the impact were just perfect... maybe add like longer axles but more than that they were just perfect.

As for shoes, just keep the old time and look designs of shoes and nothing else... reinventing shoes, did not work...

Time Pedals

SRAM needs to make a modern version of the 90's Time Equipe pedal- That was the best one by far.
Same for shoes- Make a compatible shoe with a large toe box like the old Time shoes!

Started using Equipes since 1993 and still do on my trainer and on my newer bike Xpresso with Atacs on the gravel and mountain bikes. I like the brand and also have no problem with SRAM. I would like a little harder compound on the xpresso cleats if anything.

The updated cleats that were released with the XPro update seem to be much harder than the original Xpresso. Hoping that the new owners can keep some of the current technology and improve

The XPros are great pedals. I hope SRAM supports the brand and makes parts easier to come by.

Interesting news

I am still riding RXS and hope they will make them again. Once they fixed the carbon bodies they lasted a long time. Have been on Times for many, many years.

I know I've brought this up before but I have had two pairs of RXS pedals where the body broke and one pair of XPressos, steel spindle, where the spindle snapped. I was done after that. I really liked the clip in/out and float feeling. Too bad they were so unreliable. I'm sure some will say they never had issues but, after 3 failures, I moved on to SPD-SL.

The brand has been on life support since the death of Rolan Cattin, but now I consider it to be dead. What a shame as I have been a big fan of many of their products for many years.

Interesting thread. I use Xpro10's on road bike (as does my wife) and need to decide get another pair for my new Alchemy or move to another ecosystem. Which Xpro would recommend? One thing I get frustrated is the engagement screw, plastic flat head. I turn it, and swear after moving to ease position, it changes itself.
