Serotta Ottrott with a DKS Rear End????

Have any of you ever seen this before? I've only seen ST Pivot rears on Ottrotts. I didn't know the DKS was an option on these.

I don't quite understand why it's not called an Hors Cat with that rear end, though. Thought that was the only model with the DKS.

Hors Cat was all Ti tubing, this bike is carbon tubes with Ti lugs. Hence an Ottrott with a DKS rear end. The predecessor to the ST rear end.

Seller is very responsive and the auction starting price is $1800 or less than his original BIN, so he gets the market. If it fit me I’d offer 1,800.

Did the price jump? I thought it was 1800 to but see higher price now. I’m tempted to get it cause it’s so cool but the size is on my extreme outer limits and money tide up building another bike.

The DKS rear was only available on the Ottrott in 2003, first year for the model and the last year for DKS. Hors Cat was no longer a separate model in 2003 as it it had been renamed Legend DKS.

Some things are cosmetic. Just saying. Those who have ridden them think of them as sublime.

Any intel on how those rubber strips hold up over time? It's easy enough to swap bearings but I don't know of any way to get replacements for those. I do have some of the DKS bearings but not the rubber bits.

All the Serotta's were custom built anyway - i would imagine if a customer really wanted a particular combination and had the cash in hand (a lot of cash!), that Serotta could be convinced to make almost anything you want.

Hate to be a Davey Downer, BUT . . .

. . . this is probably very true. The hinges at the rear junction would also need to be replaced eventually. I saw hinges alone on eBay one time, but that was years ago. You'd have to set up a search on the Bay and buy another whole frame just to get spare parts!

The silicone is not going to wear out, at least not anytime soon. These were made very well and I haven’t seen cracking or delamination on the dozen or so I’ve seen in the flesh. A little chipping on the outside edges is the only sign of wear I’ve noticed. There were different densities available, but never seen spares offered anywhere. DK has written here at length about the history of the suspension design.
