Transitions Contact Lenses (Photochromic)

My wife is an optometrist and she came home with a sample pair of the new transitions contact lenses for me to try. I've been using them for a few days now and they're nice.

My biggest fear was it would be too dark with my cycling glasses (as they're also photochromic. That's not the case.

When I'm outside in the sun without glasses, it's still bright out, but not uncomfortably so. I didn't even notice it until I came inside and looked in the mirror and saw how dark my eyes were.

While cycling I always wear glasses for eye protection and I was happy to find out there's little to no difference as the sunglasses block UV rays, so the (contact) lenses don't darken all that much, unless you take the glasses off for a few minutes while stopped. Even still it wasn't that much of a difference.

While driving you need sunglasses - the windows block all or almost all of the UV rays so the contacts don't work.

They work. It's a 2 week lens and I'm on my 4th day, so I have a little more time with them.

I have a few pair of photochromic sunglasses.

Thumbs up.

Don't need contacts, so can't comment on that aspect of them

I have a Bell moto helmet with a photchromic face shield. Wear photochromic glasses under it. Works. Glasses stay mostly clear till I open my shield at a light.
