Mt. Hood Gravel Grinder July 8, 2017

Check out the Mt. Hood Gravel Grinder presented as part of the Oregon Gravel Grinder series. This is right out my former front door in Mt Hood and looks to be terrific event.

Can't say enough about the location, scenery, vibe etc...Sorry for the not posting sooner

I am going.

Can you further describe the course?
Sounds like it is mostly road?

What kind of tire for this event?

I'm thinking about it. It's my actual cake-day, but my wife has to work, so I may get a hall pass to go do it.. And the fact that it's somewhat short on gravel is okay with me - I'd be riding 25s.

Did you guys go?

A road bike and 25mm tires would have sucked on that dirt descent- Was a fun day. Not too hot.

Ended up riding my own little grinder closer to home - turned 38 yesterday and the wife wanted to do brunch for me since she had to work later in the day..

It's on my list for next year though; and maybe for some unsupported riding later in the year.

What did you end up riding on it? Pics?

Mt Hood Gravel Grinder

I only brought my cross bike up to Bend.
But I rode it- Scott Gravel CX10, with 34/50 and 11-36. Carbon Enve M50 wheels with Schwable Pro One Tubeless 700x28- but measure bigger than that.
Disc brake bike.

At 1st I thought I had too much bike- lots of guys on road bikes.

But once we got off the 1st descent and onto the back roads I was glad to have the setup that I had.

Gravel descent would have been hairy on road race wheels, tires and brakes.
Final descent was also nice with discs and fat tires- it was super fast, but twisty in spots.

Sorry no pics- I was trying to get it done fast before it got too hot
